Are vinyl pants suitable for young people to use?

My grandson is autistic and nonverbal. He is 9 years old and we are trying to get him potty trained. It has been a very daunting process as there is no regularity about him. Youth pants are so absorbent that he does not feel the wetness. Thought something like this would be good for over u dersear as he will feel the wetness and hopefully would make it easier to train.
