For patients with disabilities, forearm crutches, also known as Lofstrand or elbow crutches, are commonly used. These crutches provide more support and are suitable for long-term use, as they allow for greater mobility and independence. Axillary crutches, or underarm crutches, are also used but are more suitable for short-term use and require good upper body strength and coordination.
