Gloves should be changed during surgery whenever they become torn, punctured, or contaminated to maintain sterility and prevent infection. Additionally, it's recommended to change gloves between different procedures on the same patient and when moving from a contaminated area to a clean area. In lengthy surgeries, periodic changing of gloves, such as every 90 to 150 minutes, may also be advised to minimize the risk of micro-perforations.
