For toddlers, polyethylene glycol (such as MiraLAX) or lactulose is often considered safe and effective for treating constipation, but they should only be used under a doctor’s guidance. Increasing dietary fiber and fluids is also recommended. Always consult a pediatrician before giving any laxative to a toddler.
